Keep Production Moving. Solve Problems. Own the Electrical Reliability.
If you’re an electrically biased maintenance engineer who enjoys fault finding, getting plant back online and working on proper industrial machinery, this is worth a look.
We’re recruiting two Electrical Maintenance Engineers for a major manufacturing site in Essex.
You’ll join a busy production operation where downtime matters, working across automated plant, motors, drives, controls and associated electrical systems. The role combines planned maintenance with reactive breakdown work, so you’ll need to be comfortable diagnosing problems rather than simply replacing components.
This would suit someone coming from manufacturing, construction materials, heavy industry, FMCG, recycling, automotive, utilities or another process-led environment.
You do not need previous experience in this exact product sector.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for keeping production equipment electrically reliable and available across the site.
Typical work will include:
- Planned preventative maintenance on production machinery
- Reactive electrical breakdown response
- Fault finding across automated plant and control systems
- Motors, contactors and inverter drives
- Electrical repairs and component replacement
- Supporting PLC-controlled machinery
- Identifying repeat faults and helping improve plant reliability
- Recording maintenance activity through a CMMS
- Working closely with production and engineering colleagues
- Maintaining high electrical, safety and compliance standards
The environment is fast-moving and production-focused, so this will suit someone who is comfortable taking ownership of faults and working independently when required.
What We’re Looking For
You’ll ideally have:
- A recognised Electrical Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent electrical training
- Strong industrial electrical maintenance experience
- Experience maintaining automated production machinery
- Good fault-finding ability
- Experience with motors and motor control
- Inverter drive / VFD experience
- Knowledge of contactors and control circuits
- 17th Edition or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- Experience of planned and reactive maintenance
- Comfortable working within a production or process environment
Experience with Siemens PLCs, particularly S5/S7, would be useful but is not essential.
Shift Pattern
This is a 12-hour rotating shift position:
Days: 6am – 6pm
Nights: 6pm – 6am
42 hours per week.
Package
Alongside a salary expected to be in the region of £45,000–£50,000, the package includes:
- Annual bonus
- Enhanced holiday entitlement
- Contributory pension
- Employee discounts and rewards
- Training and development
- Long-term career progression
- Support from a major UK industrial organisation
