Role Overview

Quarry Manager

Location: Gloucestershire
Permanent | Full-time
Company Car | Annual Bonus | Private Medical | Excellent Benefits

An excellent opportunity has opened for an experienced Quarry Manager to take responsibility for a well-run, high-performing quarry in Gloucestershire.

The site is already in a strong operational position, with established systems, high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance, and an experienced team with long-standing service. The current Quarry Manager is progressing internally to manage a larger operation, creating an opportunity for someone to inherit a stable site and continue developing its performance.

This is a genuine site-leadership position with responsibility for safety, production, people, cost control, maintenance and customer delivery.

The role

As Quarry Manager, you will take full responsibility for the safe, compliant and commercially effective operation of the quarry.

You will lead an experienced multidisciplinary team, including engineering, weighbridge, mobile plant and operational personnel, while working closely with the Section Manager and wider regional leadership team.

The quarry has clear opportunities to increase output while maintaining its strong operational and compliance standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead all day-to-day quarry operations, ensuring safe and efficient production
  • Maintain full compliance with the Quarries Regulations, environmental permits and company standards
  • Drive a positive health, safety and environmental culture across the site
  • Manage production performance, stock levels, quality and customer requirements
  • Deliver against output, cost, availability and operational targets
  • Coordinate fixed and mobile plant maintenance to maximise uptime
  • Manage contractors, permits, inductions and safe systems of work
  • Monitor budgets, expenditure and operational performance
  • Maintain accurate operational, safety and environmental documentation
  • Work closely with commercial, logistics, engineering and regional management teams

About you

You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience managing a quarry, aggregates site or mineral-processing operation
  • Strong knowledge of the Quarries Regulations and site compliance requirements
  • Proven responsibility for health, safety and environmental performance
  • Experience leading operational and engineering teams
  • Knowledge of crushing, screening, mobile plant and quarry production
  • Commercial awareness, including budgets, cost control and performance reporting
  • Strong people-management and communication skills
  • The ability to manage a site independently and make sound operational decisions
  • A recognised quarrying, minerals or operational-management qualification
  • Full UK driving licence

Applications are also welcomed from experienced Assistant Quarry Managers, Section Managers or Unit Managers who already carry substantial day-to-day operational responsibility and are ready to step into full site leadership.

Package and benefits

The successful candidate will receive:

  • Competitive senior management package
  • Company car for business and personal use
  • Annual performance bonus
  • Private medical insurance
  • 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Pension and employee benefits
  • Wellbeing support, including access to a 24/7 virtual GP
  • Long-term development and internal progression opportunities

This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of an established quarry with an experienced team, strong compliance standards and genuine scope to improve production performance.
