Maintenance Electrician

Gloucester | Excellent Salary + Bonus + Benefits
Permanent | Monday to Friday | 40 Hours + Overtime

Industrial Maintenance | Heavy Engineering | Quarry & Asphalt Operations

Are you an experienced Maintenance Electrician who enjoys fault-finding, resolving breakdowns and keeping heavy industrial machinery running?

Andrews Recruitment Group are one of the UK's leading Aggregate and Building Material recruitment partners and we are recruiting for a Maintenance Electrician to join an established building materials and heavy industrial operation in Gloucester.

This is a hands-on position working across quarrying and asphalt production equipment, where electrical reliability, preventative maintenance and efficient breakdown response are essential to maintaining production.

You'll be part of an experienced operational team, working on industrial electrical systems, motors, drives and control equipment, with the opportunity to make a genuine impact on plant performance.

The Role

As a Maintenance Electrician, you'll be responsible for maintaining, repairing and improving electrical equipment across a busy industrial production site.

Your work will involve both reactive breakdown maintenance and planned preventative maintenance, ensuring machinery remains safe, reliable and operational.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Diagnosing and repairing electrical breakdowns across industrial plant and machinery.
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance to minimise equipment downtime.
  • Fault-finding on electrical control systems, motors, AC drives and associated equipment.
  • Interrogating PLC-controlled systems to identify and resolve operational faults.
  • Maintaining industrial low-voltage electrical distribution systems.
  • Inspecting, testing and maintaining electrical installations and equipment.
  • Supporting Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Using computerised maintenance management systems to record work and support maintenance planning.
  • Assisting with electrical modifications and improvements to existing equipment.
  • Ensuring all work complies with electrical regulations and site health and safety procedures.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a practical, self-motivated Maintenance Electrician with strong industrial fault-finding skills and the confidence to work independently when required.

Essential requirements:

  • Level 3 apprenticeship-trained Electrician with ONC/NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering.
  • 17th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) as a minimum, with 18th Edition preferred.
  • Experience maintaining electrical equipment in an industrial, manufacturing, factory or heavy engineering environment.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding and breakdown maintenance experience.
  • Working knowledge of industrial electrical and control engineering systems.
  • Experience with AC motors, drives and electrical distribution equipment.
  • Understanding of planned preventative maintenance.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
  • A strong commitment to safe working practices.

Previous quarrying experience isn't essential. Applications are welcomed from electricians working in manufacturing, industrial production, processing, recycling and other heavy engineering environments.

Salary & Benefits

  • Excellent salary package.
  • Bonus scheme.
  • Company benefits.
  • Monday to Friday working pattern.
  • 40-hour working week.
  • Overtime opportunities.
  • Permanent position with an established industrial business.
  • Exposure to substantial industrial machinery and production equipment.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is an opportunity to work in a genuine heavy industrial environment where electrical maintenance has a direct impact on production, safety and operational efficiency.

Rather than repetitive maintenance tasks, you'll be involved in diagnosing faults, resolving breakdowns, improving equipment reliability and supporting ongoing plant improvements.

You'll work with a range of electrical and control systems, giving you the opportunity to apply your technical knowledge while continuing to develop your experience within industrial engineering.

For a Maintenance Electrician who enjoys practical problem-solving, working with heavy machinery and taking ownership of equipment reliability, this could be an excellent next move.
